I think it was about time someone added something a little smarter, a little different, to the crowded skyline of Beirut. Here is a preview of Herzog&deMeuron, Swiss architects’ proposal for a residential building in Beirut. Due in 2013, it’s one of the rare upcoming constructions of Beirut I can’t wait to see completed.
Once again, H&dM’s understanding of context and roots have allowed them to design yet another masterpiece, something other than a just-another.

…Or am I just swooning over their images?

Students, students, and young adults of the world, I share your pain. You probably wake up on Sundays around 2 or 3 pm. You mope around the house drinking coffee and trying to get rid of that nasty headache you’ve been dragging around all weekend. You have work or class tomorrow, and the weather is probably shitty.
I hate sundays, so I cook.

How to be a child star.

Looks like some fanatic with a cutter took a walk on the highway. I am not, in any way, supportive of this type of advertising. And even less of this type of behavior and reaction.
It is simply that I find this type of advertising cheap and easy. Not only does it not reach the right audience (I don’t know what woman would feel compelled to buy the bra after seeing this ad), it does it in the least subtle and least effective way. And as if that weren’t enough, this is all done through a blatant objectification of the female body, using a medium which isn’t adapted to the content (I would understand seeing these ads in a magazine with an audience consisting mainly of women, but not on the highway in Lebanon).
As for the obscenely violent, disrespectful blade-happy maniac. Well, he can just go to hell.
The keyboard is mightier than the cutter.
